Emergency responders were called to the Cultus Lake Waterpark on Monday (June 15) for a medical emergency involving electricity and several patrons who suffered burns.
It was reported initially that a group of youth had suffered burns to their feet.
Communications over the scanner said arriving crews found nine patients, who were conscious and breathing, and most were children between 10 and 12 years old.
The call came in over the scanner at 11:20 a.m. asking for Chilliwack Fire Department, RCMP and BC Ambulance Services to attend the Waterpark.
The power was shut off and officials were awaiting BC Hydro crews. Air ambulances were expected to arrive at the waterpark in the parking lot, and at the nearby school.
Several schools had scheduled field trips to the water slides on Monday morning.
Traffic into the Cultus Lake area was blocked temporarily, and backing up at the roundabout at Sunnyside Boulevard.
