Here’s a pop-quiz question to store in your memory banks: how many listeners does retired Brazilian football star Ronaldinho have on Spotify? The answer, right now, is 2.4 million.
This is thanks to the recent launch of his Tu Música label, a partnership with Brazilian streaming service and distributor Sua Música. The latter has published some stats on its early momentum.
The label has released two albums, both called ‘Camisa 10’, with 59 tracks featuring the likes of Sean Paul, Pitbull and Ronaldinho himself.
(In fact, he’s credited as an artist on every single track: hands-on A&R at its finest! But this does point to the revenue-sharing model at work with the project.)
Sua Música said that in the first week of release, the albums generated more than 5m streams across DSPs, while being added to more than 100 editorial playlists.
On Spotify, the standout tracks so far are Sean Paul collab ‘Lead’ with 566k streams, and ‘Até Quando’ featuring Natanzinho Lima, which has 390k. The Pitbull track, ‘Vamos Celebrar’, has 146k meanwhile.
