Coronation Street and Emmerdale face schedule chaos tonight – here’s when episodes next air

If you’ve been keeping up with Emmerdale and Coronation Street, then you’ll know that the ITV soaps have occasionally had to make way for the broadcaster’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

We’re afraid it’s bad news (again) tonight, as neither series is on the air. That is due to ITV’s live coverage of Switzerland vs Canada, which begins at 7pm and runs until 10.35pm before ITV News at Ten.

It’s not too long before you’ll be back in the Dales and Weatherfield, however, as ITV makes up for lost time on Thursday (25 June). Both soaps will have an hour-long instalment – Emmerdale kicks off at 8pm, with Corrie following at 9pm.

Unfortunately, there’s another alteration on Friday (26 June) as ITV covers Norway vs France, and further coverage of the tournament across Sunday and Monday (28 and 29 June). After Thursday’s instalments, the soaps aren’t due to return until Tuesday (30 June).

Despite the schedule changes, drama has been rife throughout the Dales and Weatherfield, with the former having a new arrival in the form of Serena Sugden. It’s unclear how she is related to the other Sugdens, but she will make a bold impression.

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter for the Sugdens,” teased our Emmerdale insider. “Serena is a fascinating character who’s set to bring lots of drama to her legendary Dales dynasty – but what lures her to the village in the first place?”

“Sarah is seriously spooked and demands to know what’s going on,” our mole added. “Serena has some explaining to do, but will she reveal her true intentions there and then or try to conceal her identity?”

In Weatherfield, meanwhile, the fallout of Theo Silverton’s murder continues, with viewers now armed with the knowledge that Sarah Platt was the one responsible for the villain’s demise.

Gary Windass continues to be under suspicion from Kit Green, though he goads the police officer by declaring that he has no evidence. While Maria thinks that Gary and Sarah are having an affair, Sarah has something bigger that she’s hiding.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
