New video published by Houma TV station raises serious questions in Kyren Lacy crash

HOUMA, La. (WAFB) – Shocking new video that was published by Houma TV Station HTV shows former LSU football standout Kyren Lacy was apparently behind the vehicles that crashed last year, and at the time, not weaving in front of them, forcing a driver to take evasive action – painting a different picture than what investigators initially told the public about the wreck.
During a 44-minute interview with HTV and Martin Folse published Friday, October 3, Lacy’s attorney, Matthew Ory, said there was no way Lacy could have been responsible for the crash that killed Herman Hall. The interview on HTV also includes body camera video of a state trooper instructing a witness on what to write in a report.
During the HTV interview, Ory pointed to a portion in the report, attributing it to the District Attorney’s office, saying, “The evidence submitted in the crash report does not support that Kyren Lacy should have known that his actions were the cause of the crash that happened approximately 72 yards in front of him.”
Lacy’s lawyer was not immediately available for comment. He has maintained Lacy’s innocence from the very beginning.

We also reached out to the State Police for a comment and are waiting to hear back.
Lacy died in April 2025 in Houston, months after State Police arrested him for causing the crash.

In January 2025, State Police said:
As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash. Troop C was later notified that Hall, who was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, succumbed to his injuries from the crash after being transported to a hospital for treatment.
