Braxton Keith Teases New Cover of George Strait’s “The Chair”

Braxton Keith shared a teaser video on social media on Saturday night, announcing that his rendition of George Strait’s 1985 classic, “The Chair,” will drop on October 3rd. The clip, posted to Keith’s social media, shows the 25-year-old Texan in a studio, singing the suave hook against a simple piano arrangement.
The track, originally from Strait’s album Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, is a fan-favorite ballad about a subtle pickup line unfolding in a barroom. From the IG tease, Keith’s version appears to lean into a stripped-back arrangement, highlighting his baritone vocals and storytelling prowess.
Known for blending neotraditional twang with a modern edge, Keith has enjoyed a notable surge in popularity this year, largely on the back of the breakout single “Cozy.” His covers, including past takes on Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning,” have also gone viral on TikTok, amassing millions of streams.
This release comes amid a busy fall for Keith, including festival slots at Austin City Limits and a headlining run through the Southwest. It’s unclear whether “The Chair” will join the singles “Prescription,” “Wind Blows,” and “Baby You Do” on his thus-far-unannounced project, which has stayed safely under wraps so far.
