Glen Powell isn’t ready to give up on the Expendables franchise yet. Powell played a hacker named Thorn in 2014’s The Expendables 3. Although the film ended with Barney Ross officially welcoming Thorn to the team, Powell didn’t return for Expend4bles, which focused on a group of new recruits.
Nothing was said about Thorn being killed, so there’s always a chance he could return. In fact, Powell is enthusiastic about another outing with the Expendables crew. The actor recently participated in a roundtable with his Expendables 3 co-star Harrison Ford, where the prospect of another movie came up.
“Harrison, you and I have both talked about doing Expendables 5,” Glen Powell said during a recent Hollywood Reporter Comedy Actor Roundtable. “You talked. I listened,” Harrison Ford replied.
This was typical Harrison Ford wit, so I wouldn’t read too much into his response. It’s worth noting that Ford’s character, a CIA agent named Max Drummer, also survived the events of The Expendables 3, but didn’t return for the following film.
A female centric spinoff titled The ExpendaBelles is currently in development, but as of this writing there are no confirmed plans for The Expendables 5. However, if Powell can talk Harrison Ford into returning, the studio would be foolish not to greenlight it.
