Fargo Sam’s Club Pokemon card release draws crowd and police

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Dozens of people lined up outside a Fargo Sam’s Club Tuesday morning for the release of an exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game collection, a scene that drew police after the cards quickly sold out.
The crowd gathered before the store opened at 9 a.m. to purchase the Pokémon TCG: Ascended Heroes Focused Fighters Premium Collection at the Sam’s Club located in the 4800 block of 13th Ave. S.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., Fargo Police responded to the business for a report of a large crowd gathered for the limited release, according to the Fargo Police Department. Store management addressed customer concerns after the cards sold out, and the crowd dispersed without significant incident. No arrests were made.
By 9:30 a.m. the store had reportedly run out of stock. That shopper also told Valley News Live that some customers tried to open additional Sam’s Club memberships while inside the store, an apparent effort to purchase more cards. Sam’s Club limited purchases to two packs per membership account.
