OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A former UFC fighter who fought out of Omaha appeared in court Wednesday on domestic violence charges.
Anthony Smith was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree domestic assault, terroristic threats, and first-degree false imprisonment. A judge set his bond at $500,000.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office revealed more details of what allegedly happened:
Smith was involved in an altercation with the alleged victim at a bar in Gretna on July 26, during which he reportedly threatened to kill them if they did not get into his car and go home with him.
Smith allegedly grabbed and got them into the car, but they were able to exit the vehicle at one point before Smith made more threats.
After arriving home, the alleged victim again got out of the car, and Smith reportedly tried to strike them multiple times with the car.

Smith waived his preliminary hearing, meaning his case will go to district court for trial.
First Alert 6 Investigates confirmed a warrant was issued Monday, and Smith later turned himself in. He was arrested in Gretna.
He had a 17-year career in mixed martial arts and challenged Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight championship in 2019.
