Lindsay Czarniak Still Has the Shirt She Was Wearing When She Met Husband Craig Melvin

Among Lindsay Czarniak’s sports broadcaster wardrobe of blazers and slacks, she still has one precious memento: the sweater she was wearing the day she met her husband in 2008.
Czarniak sat down with her beau, TODAY’s Craig Melvin, for the July 28 episode of his “Glass Half Full” podcast. Right away, she joked that she almost came to set — aka, her living room — in the nostalgic garb.
“I almost came down in this red button down that I saved in the closet because it’s what I was wearing the night I met you on set,” she told Craig.
“Why didn’t you wear it?” he asked.
“Do you want me to go get it?” she replied.
“No, no, no, don’t do that because now it’s weird,” Craig joked.
The couple famously met on-air while working together in D.C. at NBC’s Washington station.
Czarniak had been away covering the 2008 Summer Olympics for the network when Craig was first hired. One day when he was on air, he turned around expecting to see the producer who had been filling in for her — only to be surprised by the return of his future wife.
Seeing Czarniak for the first time left him a bit tongue-tied, he recounted on TODAY with Jenna & Friends in 2025, though he later charmed his fellow media pro. On theme with the podcast’s “Glass Half Full” title, Czarniak also shared the story of how her parents “fell in love” with Craig.
“You made sure that their glass was half full of wine the first night you met them,” she recounted.
Craig said he “knew what he was doing.”
“If I got them good and liquored up, they’d sign off on it,” he joked.
But first, Craig also had to earn Czarniak’s affection. Although the two quickly clicked, he waited for months to turn their work friendship into a relationship.
After around two years as an official couple, Craig popped the question in spring of 2011 while on a trip to Miami. A few months later, they tied the knot in a fall wedding in D.C..
Together, they have two children: son Delano, 12, and daughter Sybil, 9.
