Scotland’s gold medallist Neil Fachie, speaking to TNT Sports: “I knew what to expect, it doesn’t make for any less pressure.

“I didn’t think we were going to win today, so that is extra special.

“I came out retirement for this race, it has been an absolute privilege and joy to race with [pilot Aaron Pope].

“He is the future of tandem sprinting, I am definitely not. This is the end for Neil Fachie, one more race at the weekend.”
