Peter Crouch mocked Abbey Clancy for “trying to sound like Joanna Lumley” as her famous Scouse accent vanished on parts of her latest TV show.
Abbey was born and raised in Liverpool, which is where she met Peter when he was playing for the Reds. They have since gone on to have four children together and have spent a number of years living down south.
On a recent episode of The Therapy Crouch podcast, talk turned to how their children have lost their “posh Surrey school” accents and gone “awfully Scouse” after schools broke up for summer.
While Peter, 45, presumed that his wife would have been proud about that turn of events, the 40-year-old former model actually felt the opposite.
She said: “No I like them posh, I do. I love the Scouse accent and the Scouse people, but I love the posh accent, I would love one.”

It was then that Peter joked that the mum-of-four pretends to be Joanna Lumley, which Abbey admitted is the case when she performs the voiceovers for Abbey Clancy: Celebrity Homes.
She said: “I’ll be going around people’s homes and I’ll be like, ‘oh my God, you’ve got a freaking walk in wardrobe.’ Then I have to do the voiceovers and I’ll be like, (mimics posh accent) ‘today, we’re off to see Sheree Murphy’s humble abode.’
“And Sally (the show’s producer) will go, ‘Abbey, can you just talk in your normal voice because when we cut to the actual show it doesn’t marry up and it’s like we’ve got Joanna Lumley doing the voiceover.”
Former England striker Peter the urged listeners to listen out for the differences between Abbey’s voiceovers and the rest of the show the next time they stick it on.
He did concede that the programme is popular with the general public, claiming that people ask him “when are they bringing that show back” all the time.
Joanna Lumley is one of Britain’s most renowned actresses, especially for her rich speaking voice.
It comes after Abbey let slip that she would be interested in having a fifth baby. The couple are already parents to Sophia Ruby, 15, Liberty Rose, 11, Johnny, eight, and seven-year-old Jack.

Despite this, Abbey admitted she does miss having a newborn around the house. Abbey turned 40 at the start of 2026 and looked at examples of women older than her who have recently had kids, including actress Sienna Miller and the star’s sister.
She told the podcast: “There’s so many older women have babies now, and I’d love a newborn.”
Peter responded: “Would you really?,” before.Abbey continued: “Sienna Miller’s sister’s pregnant, she’s like 47. Sienna Miller, just had a baby (at the age of 44).”
The ex-footballer then joked: “Fair play. Are they on second marriages?”
Peter has previously said their family won’t be expanding as having four kids “was a ridiculous decision”.
