England boxer Ruby White said that she was “off to get a steak” to celebrate making Saturday’s finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 19-year-old from Dorset progressed from the semi-finals with a second-round stoppage of Namibia’s Mischa Araes.
“I wanted to be in there for the full three minutes, I was enjoying it so much,” she said.
“Couldn’t ask for better. I’m a little bit lost for words, the job is not done yet. I’ve got to bring that gold medal home.
“I’m making everyone back home proud, which means the world to me.
“I’m going to give my mum a big fat cuddle and then I’m going to have an early night and get a steak before bed, that’s my good luck charm.”
White is one of seven England boxers to reach the finals, equalling the country’s best tally at a Commonwealth Games after also reaching seven finals in 1986 and 2018.
