Thelo Aasgaard’s future at Rangers was uncertain before the arrival of Derek McInnes this summer.
Danny Rohl failed to get the best out of the Norway international last season, in what was his first campaign at Ibrox.
The 24-year-old still did manage to find the back of the net on eight occasions in 48 appearances, and also provided five assists.

Aasgaard has looked sharp throughout pre-season, catching the eye with his movement and end product.
Derek McInnes seems willing to try a set-up that uses one narrower, almost false winger, as per the Rangers Review.
That would give the side better balance and an extra body in midfield when they need control.

Aasgaard fits that role nicely and could also step into the more fluid nine-and-a-half position that Lawrence Shankland occupies if the situation calls for it.
Opportunities will have to be earned, but his versatility gives McInnes options the Light Blues didn’t have last season.
A changed tactical approach may be what keeps Aasgaard at Ibrox beyond the summer.

Why Derek McInnes is showing faith in Aasgaard
While pre-season is not an ideal metric to judge players by, Aasgaard has shown McInnes why he deserves to have another season at Ibrox.
Players take time to adapt to life at their new clubs, especially if they are moving from another country.
Aasgaard has showcased his versatility and creativity, and has managed to shine on the grandest stage of them all, the World Cup, against France.
Oliver Antman has already been shown the door, and Nedim Bajrami is expected to be sold as well.

He looks all set to leave Ibrox this summer…
Losing another attacker, even though they might not be regular starters, will only weaken the Light Blues’ chances of winning the league.
Hopefully, Aasgaard can show from the bench why he deserves to be a regular starter.
Until new wingers are signed, the Norwegian is very likely to be named in McInnes’ strongest eleven.
He is capable of playing centrally as well as on the wings, and is more likely to be deployed out wide in the coming weeks.
