1 dead, 7 injured after two-vehicle crash in Germantown
A man is dead and seven children between the ages of 12 and 15 in a stolen vehicle were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Montgomery County, Maryland.
It happened Tuesday just before 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway in Germantown, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said.
Officers arrived and found eight people hurt: one man in a blue Toyota Matrix and the children in a Kia Optima that was reported stolen from a home in the county.
Referring to those in the Kia, Montgomery County police spokeswoman Shiera Goff said, “None of them was old enough to be driving that vehicle. None of them was old enough to have a driver’s license.”

The juvenile driver of the Kia was taken to the hospital in “critical but stable condition,” police said in a news release. The others in the Kia were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to police, the Kia “entered the intersection” and struck the Matrix, which was traveling on Clopper Road. Goff said a witness had gone to the police station and reported seeing the Kia “driving erratically before the collision.
