Waipahu, Hawaii, is a small community. Everyone knows each other, and its way of life runs like blood in their veins.

On January 13th, 2022, word was spreading quickly around Waipahu that “the healer,” the beloved local who owned a modest little acupuncture studio, was dead. And more shocking, had been murdered.

His name was Jon Tokuhara. He was only 47 years old.

His mother found him, crumpled on the floor of his acupuncture studio, in a pool of blood.

It was puzzling. As Jon’s loved ones tried to make sense of the tragedy, they kept wondering: Who could have done this? And why?
