The Chase star Mark Labbett shared a candid health update as he marked a special milestone in his life.

The beloved quiz master, who is known as ‘The Beast’, recently turned 60 and his health has been high on his priority list.

He has earned admiration for his impressive weight loss since being diagnosed with diabetes in 2017. Mark appeared on Wednesday’s (October 8) episode of ITV hit chat show Loose Women alongside panelists Ruth Langsford, Denise Welch, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore.

While on the show, the star admitted “I’m really lucky” as he opened up about his health since turning 60. Ruth asked: “I have to say, you turned the big 60. How did you feel about hitting that milestone?”

In a candid moment, Mark replied: “I look at it slightly differently, especially for people who play a lot of sports because by now they’re struggling. They’re permanently in pain, they need pain killers to get out of bed with the damage they have done.”

The TV star admitted: “I’m really lucky, I look at it this way, I’ve got my weight in check at the moment. Obviously the diabetes, but that is on me because of my diet. Apart from a touch of arthritis, if that’s the only thing I’ve got at 60 I’ll take that.”

Keen to find out more on his incredible weight loss, Jane couldn’t help but ask: “I know you lost weight the hard way but do you get a lot of people saying ‘Ozempic?’”

Mark replied: “The do and the answer to that is, if my doctor prescribed it then I would take it. Don’t forget, it is designed for overweight diabetics.”

Jane questioned: “But you did it the hard way, right?” Mark confirmed: “Yeah. I’m really lucky. I don’t know what it was but it was probably Covid, even though I didn’t get tested at the time because it was the early days of the pandemic.”

He continued: “I just lost my appetite and it just never really came back so thank you because that is what made it earlier for me to do it.”

Talk then turned to the quiz star’s love life following his recent appearance on the latest series of Channel 4 hit reality show Celebs Go Dating.

Mark revealed: “Everyone I met was lovely but they all lived a long way away from Yorkshire.” When asked if he would make the big move for love, he burst out laughing.

The TV star has been single since dumping TV presenter Hayley Palmer last year. He also shares a son with his second cousin Katie, who he married in 2014 before splitting in 2020.
