Participants picked up their race packages Friday, and this event includes a full marathon, half-marathon, 8k, 5k and kids run -with every single event now sold out.
More than 15,000 people will be taking part in all the races combined. It’s a new record by more than 3,000.
On top of that, there’s also the charity component to the marathon.
“This year we have 21 charities participating in the CHEK charity pledge program, and together they didn’t just meet their ambitious goal of $125,000, they’ve surpassed it by raising an outstanding 150,000 dollars and it keeps going up, so congratulations,” said race organizer Mandy Parker.
Races get going around 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Victoria Police Department is reminding drivers of road closures and traffic delays both downtown and in the Dallas Road area.
Sunday night at 6:30 p.m., CHEK will air a 30-minute special on the 45th Royal Victoria Marathon, hosted by CHEK’s Jeff King.
It will include highlights from the race and interviews. You can watch the Sunday special at 6:30 p.m. Catch the 30-minute special after the usual weekend newscast on TV and on CHEK+. It will air again Monday night.
