Taylor Swift’s ‘Fate of Ophelia’ No. 1 on Hot 100, Takes All Top 10

Taylor Swift claims the top 12 spots on the latest Billboard Hot 100, all via her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. On the chart dated Oct. 18, “The Fate of Ophelia” leads her dozen debuts at No. 1 — as the 12-song set becomes the first album ever to place all its songs uninterrupted from the top of the chart on down.

Swift was already the only artist ever to hold the Hot 100’s entire top 10 and now achieves the feat for a third time. She first filled the top 10 thanks to her album Midnights in November 2022 and outpaced herself via The Tortured Poets Department in May 2024 — when she stormed the chart’s top 14 positions.

(Whereas the entirety of The Life of a Showgirl resides in the Hot 100’s top 12, Midnights, along with the top 10, yielded 10 more debuts, between Nos. 13 and 45, for a total of 20 songs from the set in its debut week; The Tortured Poets Department in its first frame added another 17 debuts below the top 14 spots, from Nos. 22 to 55, making for 31 total entries from the LP.)

With “The Fate of Ophelia,” Swift scores her 13th career Hot 100 No. 1, tying for the fourth-most over the chart’s 67-year history. She also ups her count to 69 top 10s, the most among women.

Also notably, the song blasts in with 92.5 million official U.S. streams, according to data tracker Luminate — the most for a title in a single week since official streams became the metric’s sole contributor to the Hot 100 in September 2020.

As previously reported, The Life of a Showgirl, released Oct. 3 on Republic, launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with the biggest week for an album, by equivalent album units and album sales, since Luminate began collecting album data electronically in 1991. Swift earns her 15th No. 1 set, passing JAY-Z for the most among soloists in the chart’s 69-year archives.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Oct. 18, 2025) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, Oct. 14. • Keep It One Hundred: Swift Nos. 1 Through 12

    • No. 1, “The Fate of Ophelia”
    • No. 2, “Opalite”
    • No. 3, “Elizabeth Taylor”
    • No. 4, “Father Figure”
    • No. 5, “Wood”
    • No. 6, “Wi$h Li$t”
    • No. 7, “Actually Romantic”
    • No. 8, “The Life of a Showgirl,” feat. Sabrina Carpenter
    • No. 9, “Eldest Daughter”
    • No. 10, “Cancelled!”
    • No. 11, “Ruin the Friendship”
    • No. 12, “Honey”
  • ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ Streams & Airplay

“The Fate of Ophelia,” which arrives as the 1,184th No. 1 in the Hot 100’s history, drew 92.5 million official streams and 38.5 million radio airplay audience impressions in the United States Oct. 3-9. It, like all tracks from The Life of a Showgirl, has no sales counting toward the list, as they were not available for purchase individually during the album’s first week of release.

The single is Swift’s 10th leader on the Streaming Songs chart, the most among women (and second overall only to Drake’s 21). On Radio Songs, it debuts as her 22nd top 10 at No. 7; it’s just the fifth song to start in the top 10 since the ranking began measuring all-format airplay in December 1998, joining Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” (No. 6, 2022); Adele’s “Easy on Me” (No. 4, 2021); Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” (No. 6, 2011); and Janet Jackson’s “All for You” (No. 9, 2001).

The start of “The Fate of Ophelia” (whose official video premiered Oct. 5) with 92.5 million streams marks the top total for a song in a single week since all YouTube user-generated content (UGC) was removed from chart calculations in 2020. The sum surpasses the 76.4 million streams that Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, drew in its first week (May 25, 2024).

Meanwhile, cuts from The Life of a Showgirl hold the nine biggest weekly streaming totals of 2025, excluding holiday fare, from “The Fate of Ophelia” through the title track, which drew 49.1 million streams. Prior leader “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar now ranks 10th, with 49 million (Feb. 22). Combined, the 12 tracks on The Life of a Showgirl collected 679 million official streams Oct. 3-9.

Plus, each of the 12 songs from The Life of a Showgirl totaled at least 1.1 million in airplay audience, from “The Fate of Ophelia” through “Eldest Daughter.” Cumulatively, they rang up 68.5 million in radio reach.

    • 25, Elvis Presley (whose career start predated the Hot 100’s inception)

Of Swift’s 69 Hot 100 top 10s, 30 are from her three most recent studio albums of all-new material, with The Life of a Showgirl joining The Tortured Poets Department and Midnights in spinning off a record 10 top 10s each.

Swift also lifts her career sums to 177 top 40 hits (trailing only Drake’s 218) and 276 overall appearances (second to Drake’s 361).

  • Swift’s Newest No. 1 as a Writer & Producer

Swift co-wrote and co-produced “The Fate of Ophelia” with Max Martin and Shellback. She has now co-written 13 Hot 100 No. 1s and co-produced seven.

Martin adds his 28th Hot 100 No. 1 as a songwriter, second only to Paul McCartney’s 32. Martin tallies his record-extending 26th No. 1 as a producer.

Shellback notches his 11th Hot 100 leader as a writer and 10th as a producer.

  • Sabrina & George’s New Top 10s

Amid Swift’s top 10 Tay-keover, the Hot 100 histories of Sabrina Carpenter and the late George Michael add new honors.

As featured on “The Life of a Showgirl,” Carpenter collects her sixth Hot 100 top 10. It’s her third this year, following her own “Manchild” (No. 1, one week, June) and “Tears” (No. 3, September), both from her latest album, Man’s Best Friend.

Swift’s “Father Figure” interpolates Michael’s song of the same name, which topped the Hot 100 for two weeks in 1988, following its release on his album Faith. The new track is his 22nd top 10 as a writer, with “Father Figure” previously sampled in P.M. Dawn’s top 10 hit “Looking Through Patient Eyes” (No. 6, 1993).

  • Beyond Swift: ‘Golden’ & ‘Ordinary’

Below Swift’s haul on the Hot 100, HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” from Netflix’s record-breaking animated movie KPop Demon Hunters, is the list’s highest-charting hit, falling to No. 13 after eight weeks at No. 1. “Golden” tops Digital Song Sales for a fourth week (7,000, up 19%, boosted by the trio’s appearances on NBC’s Saturday Night Live Oct. 4 and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Oct 7.)

At No. 14 on the Hot 100, Alex Warren’s former 10-week leader “Ordinary” drops from No. 2, while ruling Radio Songs for a 17th week, up 1% to 77.4 million in audience — a new weekly best for the track and the most for any song in more than a year, since Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (78.2 million) on the Oct. 5, 2024, chart.
