Spain is looking to move six points clear at the top of UEFA Group E as it hosts Bulgaria on Tuesday in the latest leg of World Cup qualification. La Roja has taken a perfect nine points from nine thus far in qualifying and already sits three points clear of the competition, having yet to concede a goal in the competition.
Bulgaria, on the other hand, is on the verge of being eliminated from World Cup contention after failing to pick up a point in its first three games. That means the Lions will no longer be able to snag a top-two finish if they lose to Spain while Turkey manages a home win over Georgia elsewhere on Tuesday.
Spain boss Jose de la Fuente is without four prominent stars after Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Dani Olmo, and Dean Huijsen each withdrew from the squad. Defender Emil Tsenov withdrew from the Bulgaria squad before the team’s defeat in Turkey on Saturday, where captain Kiril Despodov made his return to the team.
