BBC Radio 2 presenter Owain Wyn Evans is on the mend following an emergency gallbladder operation, and has expressed his gratitude to the NHS staff who cared for him.
The 41 year old, recognised for his roles on Homes Under The Hammer and Radio 2’s Early Breakfast Show, let his followers know he would be “off air for a while” as he recovers at Llandough Hospital in Cardiff.
Owain posted an update on social media, stating: “Turns out I had some dodgy polyps in the old gallbladder, so out it came. All fine now. I can’t thank the incredible staff at West Ward 6 and surgical team at Llandough Hospital enough.
“I’m off work for a bit recovering and being cared for by Nurse Franny and Dr Arran (who despite not being a medical doctor is doing a good job).”

Owain has become one of the BBC’s most familiar voices, renowned for bringing warmth, humour, and vitality to early mornings on Radio 2, reports the Mirror.
He started out on BBC Look North before progressing to BBC Breakfast and The One Show, frequently blending weather updates with musical performances and drumming.
The Ammanford native from Carmarthenshire rose to prominence as “the drumming weatherman” following a viral BBC segment during lockdown.
Owain has previously discussed his hearing challenges, relying on in-ear monitors to remain on air and deliver his broadcasts successfully.
