Florida State football quarterback Tommy Castellanos exited the Seminoles’ game against Stanford in the fourth quarter after taking a late hit while sliding on a 35-yard run.
Castellanos slid after the long run to pick up a first down, and he was hit by Stanford’s Mitch Leigber. Castellanos’ head bounced off the turf before he turned over and briefly laid motionless on the ground before being tended to by trainers.
Leigber was ejected for targeting.
He was helped off the field and taken to the medical tent for evaluation. True-freshman Kevin Sperry replaced him. Castellanos had completed 14-of-28 passes for 242 yards, with 33 rushing yards and a touchdown when he left the game.
Castellanos was looking to engineer a game-tying scoring drive for FSU, which trail Stanford 20-13 with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
