CAA Sundance Party Sees Arrest After Maxwell Alejandro Frost Assault

UPDATED, 5:22 p.m.: Maxwell Alejandro Frost, a U.S. Representative for Florida’s 10th congressional district, has identified himself as the man assaulted during a racially charged incident at CAA‘s annual Sundance party on Friday.
“Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off,” Frost wrote on X. “The individual was arrested and I am okay. Thank you to the venue security and Park City PD for assistance on this incident.”
Frost became the first Gen Z and first Afro-Cuban member of the U.S. Congress upon his election in November 2022. Prior to his time in Congress, the Democrat worked as national organizing director for March for Our Lives, the organization focused on gun-violence prevention.

PREVIOUSLY, 5:08 p.m.: A man was arrested at a CAA Sundance party on Friday after a racially charged incident in a restroom at at High West Saloon in Park City, UT, sources have confirmed to Deadline.
What exactly prompted the incident isn’t yet clear, and neither party involved has been identified as of Saturday. A caucasian man, the person arrested was said to have shocked those in his vicinity with remarks about his pride in being white. Subsequently, he was said to have punched a person of color in the face.
In the aftermath of the punch, security was quick to detain the assailant — a party crasher — who was taken into police custody. Whether the man remains in jail is not yet clear. Representatives for the Summit County Utah Sheriff’s Department didn’t immediately respond to request for comment on the incident.
An annual presence at premier festivals worldwide, including Sundance, CAA is in town both to celebrate the premieres of clients and as part of an effort to help filmmakers lock down distribution.
Taking place in person in Park City and Salt Lake City from January 22–February 1, with an online component, this year’s festival will be the last in Sundance’s longtime hub of Park City, with a move to Boulder, CO set for next year.
