5 shot at Sterling Heights house party, 2 in custody

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Five people were shot early Saturday morning at a house party in Sterling Heights.

At about 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 10, Sterling Heights Police received reports of shots being fired with multiple victims.

Officers arrived at the 3000 block of 14 Mile Road and found four people shot.

A fifth person drove herself to the hospital.

The victim with the most critical injuries was likely saved when officers quickly applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding in their leg.

According to police, the shooting started after two people at the party got into an argument.

Both pulled out handguns and began shooting at each other.

In the exchange, they shot each other and three innocent bystanders.

Two suspects are in custody at the hospital.

All injured individuals are expected to be okay.

The investigation is ongoing.
