James Martin revealed some “big news” to viewers on Saturday morning, confirming that one of his colleagues has embarked on a fresh venture beyond the programme.
The celebrity chef returned to our screens today (January 31), preparing a sumptuous spread for Status Quo’s Francis Rossi, whilst fellow presenters Romy Gill and Corrin Harrison showcased their signature dishes alongside a drinks feature with mixologist Merlin Griffiths.
During Romy’s cooking demonstration, she showed viewers how to prepare her Haryali Murg – a chicken dish with fenugreek leaves accompanied by chapatis. As she began cooking, James wasted no time in highlighting the chef’s latest endeavour.
Romy revealed that she’s returning to restaurant work, having previously stepped away from professional kitchens to dedicate more time to her family.

James declared: “Can we mention the big news for you? Because you’re venturing back into the commercial kitchen”, reports the Express.
Romy responded: “I am.” James interjected, saying: “I knew you’d miss it.” Romy clarified: “I just wanted to take a break, James.
“I do a lot of TV, I do presenting on radio, but I just wanted to have a break because when I had the restaurant, I was never there for my children.”
She added: “My daughters are in uni now, they need me, but they don’t really need me, you know? I just think it’s for me to be back in the business, I really want to be in there, and I think the credibility you get when you have a restaurant is immense.”
The television chef continued: “I have missed it. I wouldn’t say I haven’t missed it. James has always asked me, but I am back.”

This revelation follows James’ recent admission that he was more than happy to oblige when his partner Kim Johnson asked for a kitchen makeover.
James’ culinary space has achieved celebrity status in its own right, having been showcased frequently on his ITV programme James Martin’s Saturday Morning, and boasts every modern convenience imaginable.
Yet, following her attendance at a bread-making workshop led by Breton baker Richard Bertinet, personal trainer Kim spotted a gap in the equipment.
Discussing his most recent acquisition in his Woman’s Weekly magazine column, James revealed: “My girlfriend went on a Richard Bertinet course to learn how to make bread. She had a fantastic day and came back not only as a baker, but requesting I get a new electric mixer – so I did.”
James Martin’s Saturday Morning broadcasts on Saturdays from 9.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
