Vitor Matos eager to extend excellent home form in front of bumper crowd

Vitor Matos has urged Swansea City to produce a showing to continue their excellent home form and delight a bumper Swansea.com Stadium crowd against Preston North End tonight (7.45pm).

The Swans have been on an outstanding run in SA1, taking 22 points from the last 24 on offer on home turf.

The most recent of the seven wins in that sequence came against Bristol City on Saturday, and there will be a sell-out home crowd in attendance when they go in search of victory number eight against North End.

Minority owner Snoop Dogg will be among them, and Matos says the aim for his team will be to try and make sure they are once more able to send the Jack Army home happy in their own backyard.

“We showed brilliant character and resilience, and moment of quality at times, to beat Bristol City,” he said.

“Now we have the chance to play at home again in just a few days, and that is something we want to make sure we recover, prepare and focus for.

“I think you can see the fans have played an important part in the results we have had, against Bristol City in the final 15 minutes they made every tackle, kicked every ball, ran every yard with us.

“That gives the players so much energy, and that connection we have is growing all the time and is so important.

“This game is going to be a sell-out, and so it is down to us to make sure we give everyone in the stadium a performance that reflects our identity and principles.

“These are the nights when a grandchild might come to the stadium with a grandparent for the first time, to watch our team, and that means we have a chance to start something, a bond that can be special and part of the future of our club.

“So, the focus is on the job we have to do as a group.”
