Jamie Ding ‘Jeopardy!’ win streak hits 17

Jamie Ding continued his dominant run on “Jeopardy!” Monday, collecting his 17th straight win.
The Metro Detroit native’s latest victory broke a three-way tie for 10th most wins in the show’s history, according to online database The Jeopardy! Fan. Ding ranks eighth in terms of all-time prize money won on the show.
How much has he won?
Ding garnered another $31,611 on Monday’s show, giving him a 17-day total of $494,012.
Maggie Fucher, a research assistant from Pittsburgh, finished second with $6,000 while Mikey Hlebasko, a sales operations director from Marietta, Georgia, ended the episode with $684.
All three contestants missed Monday’s Final Jeopardy! clue, about a long-planned but never-developed bridge between Britain and Ireland, but Ding had a nearly $37,000 lead entering the final round, giving him another comfortable margin of victory.
What’s next?
Ding will go for win No. 18 on Tuesday’s episode. In Detroit, “Jeopardy!” airs on WDIV-TV (Channel 4) at 7:30 p.m.
He needs to reach 19 wins to move up to a three-way tie for eighth most in “Jeopardy!” history.
Ken Jennings owns the all-time record for most victories on the long-running game show with 74, set in 2004. Jennings, who now hosts “Jeopardy!” won more than $2.5 million during his reign as champion.
“As every other player on that leaderboard has learned at one point or another in the past, all “Jeopardy!” runs come to an end sometime,” Jennings said at the start of Monday’s episode.
Who is Jamie Ding?
Ding is a 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School. There, he was an honor student, a National AP Scholar and placed highly in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ high school championship, according to the Grosse Pointe News.
His father is Yuchuan Ding, a professor of neurosurgery at Wayne State University.
Now a bureaucrat and law student, Jamie Ding currently resides in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
