Last chance to file a claim in the Dollar General class action settlement

Dollar General class action settlement claim eligibility
Consumers may qualify for a cash payment in a multi-million dollar class action settlement involving Dollar General.
Monday, April 13, is the deadline for consumers to file a claim in a multi-million dollar class action settlement case involving discount retailer Dollar General.
According to the website for the settlement, Dollar General agreed to the settlement in a case where the company is alleged to have discrepancies between the prices of merchandise advertised on the shelves and what customers were charged at checkout. Dollar General denies any wrongdoing.
All consumers in the United States who paid more for merchandise than the advertised price labeled on the shelf at a Dollar General store from Oct. 10, 2016, through Nov. 19, 2025, are eligible to file a claim. Some impacted customers received emails earlier this year notifying them that they qualified for the settlement.
Here’s what to know about the settlement and how to file a claim.
When is the deadline to file a claim?
Consumers need to file or return the claim by April 13, 2026, in order to receive a cash payment from the settlement fund. The opt-out deadline was March 2.
How to file a claim
Consumers can submit a claim or register for the in-store benefit on the Dollar General settlement website.
What eligible consumers can receive if they file a claim
Consumers qualify for a cash payment if they can show specific proof that they complained between Oct. 10, 2016, and Nov. 19, 2025, about an overcharge to a government agency or Dollar General directly, and the complaint specifically referenced an overcharge. The complaint also has to remain unresolved by Dollar General.
You can also qualify for a cash payment if you can provide documentation of being overcharged during that time. This might include a dated photo of a shelf price and a matching receipt.
Consumers eligible for the cash payment will either receive $10 or the amount of the overcharge, whichever is higher. There is also a maximum of two overcharge claims per household, meaning each household is eligible for $20 total or the total amount of the overcharges if that amount is higher.
Additionally, settlement class members are eligible for an in-store benefit, which is a $3 discount on the first $10 of any purchase of at least $10 pre-tax. Consumers do not need to provide proof of overcharge to get this benefit. The in-store benefit is available for redemption during a two-day window at any Dollar General store nationwide.
That two-day window will be from June 1-2, 2026, according to the settlement website, however the discount cannot be combined with any other Dollar General store coupons. It can be combined with national manufacturer coupons, though.
