Alex Golesh makes trio of key Auburn hires

One of this coaching cycles most wanted men, Alex Golesh — new Auburn University head football coach — is wasting no time in beginning to establish the foundation of his inaugural Tigers coaching staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Golesh already has brought with him the well-regarded Andrew Warsaw in a top executive role, personnel executive Alex Fagan and former Auburn University standout Kodi Burns, who just wrapped his first season as Golesh’s co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.

Warsaw, who’s been as associate athletic director at USF as the general manager of all Name, Image and Likeness elements for football, as well as Golesh’s chief of staff, is again transitioning in an upper-level executive role.

Golesh and Warsaw previously worked together at the University of Tennessee before Golesh prioritized Warsaw among his first hires at USF.

Fagan has been serving as USF’s director of scouting.

Burns and Golesh also worked together at Tennessee and reunited in December 2024 after Burns had been on staff in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.

A national championship-winning player at Auburn in the early 2000s, Burns returns to his alma mater for a third stint coaching the Tigers.

Auburn hired Alex Golesh earlier Sunday, pouncing when Arkansas failed to close out its deal with Golesh middle of last week despite being involved in negotiations.

He guided USF to nine wins this season and time in the national polls, particularly after opening wins against Boise State and Florida within the season’s first month.

The Bulls, 9-3 and 6-2 in American Athletic Conference play, are awaiting their postseason destination with a chance to become just the third team in USF history to win 10 or more game.

In addition to our reporting above, CBS sports shares that offensive coordinator Joel Gordon, offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick, corners coach DeMarcus Van Dyke and head strength coach George Courides are all coming from USF to Auburn as well.
