Reading sign striker Keane on loan from Preston

Reading have signed Preston North End striker Will Keane on a loan deal through until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old links back up with head coach Leam Richardson who he worked under at Wigan Athletic.

Keane was the top goalscorer in League One during the Latics’ title-winning season in the 2021-22 campaign.

He has been restricted to just two appearances for the Lilywhites this season after sustaining a calf injury in April, scoring one goal.

During his time at Wigan, Keane made 133 appearances and scored 50 goals, he has also previously played for Ipswich Town, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday and QPR.

“Will has a proven record of scoring goals in this division- and the one above-and will add plenty of quality to our frontline for the remainder of the season.”
