How Seahawks win over 49ers is good news for Klint Kubiak staying in Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks are one of the top teams in the NFL this season, and look poised to go on a Super Bowl run after their blowout of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round.
While the defense might be the star of the show, Klint Kubiak and the Seahawks offense are vastly improved from what they were a year ago. But, unfortunately for Seattle, Kubiak is drawing serious head coaching interest.
But, with their win over the 49ers, as Tom Pelissero of NFL Network points out, the Seahawks got some good news on Kubiak’s head coaching search. While there’s no guarantee one way or the other, this is some good news for Seattle.
Seahawks get good news on Klint Kubiak’s future in SEA with win over 49ers
“Wins by the Broncos and Seahawks on Saturday mean teams will have to wait another week to conduct second interviews with their potential head coaching candidates,” Pelissero reports, including Klint Kubiak, Aden Durde, Vance Joseph, and Davis Webb.”
This news is welcome for the Seahawks and Denver Broncos, but in Seattle’s case, seeing the job market continue to develop while Kubiak finishes out his tenure with the Seahawks might keep him from a head coaching job.
Losing Kubiak would be a big blow for the Seahawks, and since he’s helped lead the Seahawks to the NFC Championship game, the team won’t be able to get a second interview with him just yet.
That means that teams will have to weigh whether it’s worth waiting for him and missing out on a bunch of other head coaching candidates as other teams make their hires.

Last offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles lost Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints in a similar situation, but they nearly were able to keep their offensive coordinator if it weren’t for the Saints being incredibly patient.
While Kubiak is still one of the more likely head coaching candidates this offseason, this win over the 49ers, and the delay for his second interviews and progress towards a job could make his odds to stay in Seattle higher.
The Seahawks would love to keep Kubiak in Seattle, but will not stop him from searching for a head coaching gig.
But, since he cannot interview again for at least a week, the Seahawks odds of keeping Kubiak might be a bit better than they were a week ago.
If nothing else, the Seahawks winning in the playoffs will delay the team losing Kubiak, and, of course, mean the Seahawks are on a deep playoff run that, if it ends in a Super Bowl, would make the sting of losing Kubiak hurt a lot less.
