BYRON, Ill. (WIFR) – Multiple ambulances are called to the Byron Nuclear Plant for reports of chemical exposure.
Just before 5:45 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the plant. Initial reports say at least half a dozen people were exposed to chemicals.
The chemical they were exposed to and the extent of injuries are unknown. Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle confirmed there are no deaths.

Crews from Byron, Rockford, Pecatonica, and German Valley are confirmed at the scene.
Last week, the plant began a refueling and maintenance outage on Unit One.
