Always a popular event the Spanish City funfair is back in Whitley Bay for the start of the Easter holidays

Spanish City Funfair

It’s an event that can always be relied on to pull a crowd in and the Spanish City funfair is back in Whitley Bay for the start of the Easter holidays. And thrillseekers out there should be kept happy by a number of white knuckle rides that have been confirmed to be there.

Now, while the weather for the Bank Holiday isn’t looking that great, with Storm Dave set to bring gusts of wind up to 50-60mph to mist parts of the North East as a warning is issued for the region, we’re keeping everything crossed that we’ll get at least a few days (or hours!) of alright weather over Easter, as many children begin their break from school.

There are things going on across the North East for Easter, including Easter egg hunts and free miniature train rides in Newcastle and, if the weather does play ball, somewhere that’s set to be heaving is the Spanish City fair. Taking up residence on The Links in Whitley Bay once again, the event will run from Good Friday, April 3, through to Thursday, April 9 and open daily from 11am-6pm.

And just like other funfairs that happen in the region ever year, like The Hoppings and Valentine’s Funfair, it will have rides for all ages. Family friendly ones there this year include waltzers, dodgems, family rollercoasters, Ghost Train and Jumping Frogs, while the more daring visitors to The Links can take a turn on the likes of Air Raid, Star Flyer, Top Star, The Bomber and Star Fighter.

Entry is free and on Sunday there will be loads of stuff to enjoy, with free Easter eggs, free face painting and free entertainment, with appearances from favourite characters.
