The Seattle Sounders will play their first league game at home in nearly two months when they host St. Louis today at 6:30 PM PT. The Sounders won the first meeting between these two teams, scoring a 1-0 victory in which they did a whole lot of defending.
Since that meeting, St. Louis City has done a better job of fulfilling Yoann Demet’s vision. In the five matches they’ve played across all competitions, St. Louis City are 2-1-2 with their only loss coming on the road to LAFC. Over their last four matches, St. Louis have outscored their opponents 9-3, including road ties against New York City and FC Dallas.
The Sounders, though, have historically dominated this series, with a 6-1-0 record that includes a 3-0-0 mark at home. They are also coming off an impressive 3-1 win over UANL Tigres in Concacaf Champions Cup play and are off to a 4-1-1 start in league play.
- This will be the Sounders’ first league home game since the season opener against the Colorado Rapids on Feb. 22.
- This will be the second of seven Sounders games played on grass at Lumen Field.
- The Sounders have only averaged 1.0 goals per game in league play but have scored seven goals in their three home games, which includes two Concacaf Champions Cup matches.
