GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl•BCCI
On a day when excessive heat warnings had gone out in Chennai, Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to brave the heat straightaway. Gujarat Titans will be bowling first, a potential nod to the idea that their batting line-up, which is heavily dependent on the top three, might like to know what they’re chasing instead of being worried about setting a total and worrying whether it is par. Conditions, if anything, are expected to assist spin and natural wear and tear might only further that trend.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the home captain, was perfectly happy with putting a total on the board.
