James Martin welcomed West End legend Elaine Paige to his ITV Saturday Morning show, with viewers also charmed by a surprise guest

ITV audiences shared a collective sentiment as James Martin made his return for his usual weekend programme.
James Martin’s Saturday Morning was back on air, welcoming West End legend Elaine Paige as a special guest, while also featuring culinary creations from chefs Jose Pizarro and Tony Singh.
In the most recent episode, the 53 year old presenter also prepared a special dish in support of Soccer Aid. However, prior to today’s broadcast (Saturday, 30 May), fans expressed unanimous excitement about tuning in.
On social media, the Saturday Morning with James Martin Facebook page announced: “It’s another super Saturday as James is joined by musical theatre star Elaine Paige, and chefs Jose Pizarro and Tony Singh. He’s also serving a dish perfect for sharing while watching Soccer Aid! Join us from 9.30am tomorrow!”

One enthusiast responded: “Elaine’s great, forget the rest…” while another wrote: “Wonderful to see Elaine Paige as your guest and Chef Tony Singh back in your kitchen James. I’ll be watching in the morning.”, reports the Mirror.
A third viewer remarked: “This will be a very good one”, with a fourth agreeing: “Can’t wait looks like it’s gonna be a good one.”
Another follower noted: “It’s going to be a good one cant wait.” Meanwhile on Instagram, one user declared: “Great lineup”, while another commented: “Fab line up.”
Audiences were equally surprised by an unscheduled visitor on Saturday’s programme – James’ dog Lola, who made an impromptu entrance while he was speaking with Elaine. The canine interrupted proceedings as James made introductions between the two.
Moments later, Lola returned, this time seeking playtime as James remarked: “She’s doing circles”, before cautioning Elaine against accepting the stick Lola was presenting.
Elaine quipped that doing so would leave her “done for”. Yet viewers thoroughly enjoyed seeing the four-legged guest, with one person commenting: “And Lola ….”

A second viewer remarked: “What was the name of the puppy? Oh and the food is lovely [laughing emoji].”
James took Lola’s unexpected cameo in his stride, carrying on with his preparation of brill on the bone with asparagus, morals, wild garlic and a lemon cream sauce.
Discussing Elaine’s career trajectory with her, he described her voice as “timeless, the music is timeless.”
In a candid moment with James, Elaine confessed: “I was on the verge of thinking I’m going to give all this up, I couldn’t get the role I could sink my teeth into.”
Yet when the opportunity to star in Evita arose, Elaine revealed it “changed my life overnight”, continuing: “I’ve been so lucky James really. I’ve been lucky because I’ve been able to do what I really love so it’s never felt like work… I’ve just been very very lucky.”
