Where is Riptide on Channel 5 filmed? Locations of Australian TV series revealed

We’re always in the mood for a psychological thriller and last night Channel 5 began streaming the first episode of drama series Riptide, and we’ve got all the details on where the show was filmed.

Originally airing in 2022, the four-part drama carries on this evening and tells the story of Alison (Joy Joyner), a British woman who appears to have the dream life in Australia but things take a turn for the worse when her older and wealthier husband mysteriously disappears during a morning surf. While the police are keen to write off his disappearance as an accident in the riptide, Alison isn’t convinced and takes matters into her own hands to discover what happened to her husband.

While the show is full of dark themes and gripping tension, we couldn’t help finding ourselves getting distracted by the stunning locations of Australia. But where was the show actually filmed? Here’s what to know about the locations of Riptide.

Where was Channel 5’s Riptide filmed?

TV shows are very rarely filmed where they’re actually set, but Riptide, which is set in the city of Melbourne, was also shot on location there too. Melbourne is the capital of the state of Victoria and is on the southern coast of Australia. The show used a number of external settings throughout the city for a variety of scenes.

They filmed many indoor scenes of the series in Network 10 Studios in Nunawading, which is in Melbourne and has previously been used to shoot Neighbours and Masterchef Australia.

Where is Alison’s house in real life?

Throughout the show we get glimpses into Alison’s stunning home, which is actually a real building called the Morning Star Estate.

The Morning Star Estate, was once a wedding venue on a wine vineyard on the outskirts of Melbourne, however, it now appears to be closed to the public. It featured 20 bedrooms and was sat on 155 acres of land.

Where are the cliff scenes filmed?

The stunning cliff scenes are also filmed on location close to where the house was filmed at Mount Eliza, which is also in the Mornington Peninsula area. Mount Eliza is a quiet and lowkey coastal town that’s known for its beautiful beaches.

Where are the forest scenes filmed?

It’s one breath-taking location after another during Riptide, as the show also features more inland locations, which were filmed on location in the Dandenong Ranges.

The Dandenong Ranges are a mountainous area on the east side of Melbourne. It takes around an hour to get to from Melbourne, and many visitors will go to the Ranges for a day trip from the city.

Riptide continues on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm
