Doak Campbell to host the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) as it gets into events business

WATCH: Inside look of FSU football’s Doak Campbell Stadium renovation

FSU host a look-and-see tour at Doak Campbell Stadium’s west side wing while it is still under construction. Here’s a look at the stadium so far.

  • Doak Campbell Stadium will host a Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event on March 13-14, 2026.
  • The event is part of FSU’s plan to bring more non-football events to the newly renovated stadium.
  • Transforming the field will require trucking in 5.5 million pounds of dirt.
  • Each night of bull riding will be followed by a concert from a major music act.

Michael Alford is keeping his promise to make it “dirt season” at renovated Doak Campbell Stadium following the football season.

The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) will transform Florida State’s iconic stadium into a bull riding and entertainment arena March 13-14, 2026. After the bull riding each night, a concert featuring a major music act will also be held.

The PBR – the world’s largest professional bull riding league – will officially announce the event that’s part of its Unleash the Best series on Friday, Oct. 3.

Last September, Alford – FSU’s VP and Athletics Director – told FSU’s Board of Trustees the school is in “deep negotiations” to bring three to four events to Doak Campbell Stadium, which underwent a massive $265 million renovation.

Alford wants to transform Doak into a year-round revenue stream.

“I’ve always said January to April is going to be dirt season at Doak,” Alford told the trustees. “We want to do as many events and get as many people in this community as possible.”

What will it take to turn Doak into a bull riding arena?

PBR will truck in 5.5 million pounds of dirt to cover roughly 30,000 square feet along with additional sound, video and lighting to cover Bobby Bowden Field.

The production will be more than three times the size of a traditional elite tour event. The event will be the 13th of 18 events in the 2026 premier individual tour regular season.

Each stop on the tour counts toward qualifying for the prestigious PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

Riders will attempt to ride bucking bulls for eight seconds, using one hand to hold a bull rope.
