The United States takes on Czechia on Monday in the first group game of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup
The United States hits the ice on Monday afternoon against Czechia in the first Group B game of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The United States and Czechia are also joined in the group by Germany and Finland. The Americans will play Finland on Tuesday night and wrap up their preliminary play on Wednesday against the German team. All the games will take place in Edmonton, AB. Monday afternoon’s game will be played at Rogers Place, the home of the Edmonton Oilers. The United States played one game prior to the tournament starting on Saturday, and they took down Slovakia 4-2. The Americans were tied at one after two periods, but got the offense going in the third period, scoring three times. Gavin Burcar scored in the second period to give the US a one-goal lead. After Slovakia tied it late in the second period, Joey Cullen and Mike Tang would score 20 seconds apart in the second period to give the Americans the edge.
