Perth superfan shocks WWE champion Rhea Ripley with proposal

Love was in the air inside the Crown Jewel Superstore on Friday as one die hard WWE fan left with more than just merchandise.

In front of screaming fans, flashing cameras, and none other than WWE megastar Rhea Ripley, 22-year-old Jasper Oxford dropped to one knee and shocked his long time partner Jessica Wright with a surprise marriage proposal.

“It was insane. I was shaking. She had no idea,” Mr Oxford told PerthNow.

“We’ve been together five years, and I knew I wanted to do something unforgettable — and what’s bigger than proposing in front of Rhea Ripley.”

The emotional moment happened during the exclusive WWE fan event, where crowds lined up for hours to score rare merch, signed collectibles, and photos with their favourite Superstars ahead of Friday night’s WWE SmackDown at RAC Arena.

Mr Oxford had been secretly scheming the proposal for months, teaming up with Ms Wright’s mum, saving for the perfect ring, and planning the big reveal.

“I didn’t even know who the meet-and-greet would be with until recently,” Mr Oxford said.

“But when I heard it was Rhea — that was it. It was fate.”

As the couple reached the front of the photo line, Ms Wright was smiling with Rhea… but before the camera could flash, Jasper turned to her and said: “I’m sorry to take away from your moment — but I have to do mine.”

And just like that, he was on one knee.

“It was everything I hoped for,” Mr Oxford said.

And of course Ms Wright did not hesitate to say yes.

Mr Oxford has followed WWE for over a decade, and since meeting Ms Wright, the two have watched every RAW, every SmackDown and every Premium Live Event— together.

They even attended the Elimination Chamber in Perth last year.

“WWE’s been part of our lives since day one,” Mr Oxford said.

“This felt like the way to do it right.”

Mr Oxford told PerthNow he “bloody hopes” the wedding will be WWE-themed, saying the electric atmosphere of Friday’s event was just too good not to carry into the big day.
