CBS wraps reopened investigation tied to controversial firing

CBS has finished a reopened internal investigation into the firing of David Del Rio, who was dismissed from the series “Matlock” in October 2025 after a co-star alleged a sexual assault, Parade reports.

Del Rio played associate lawyer Billy Martinez on the show before being escorted off the Paramount lot and written out of the series the same day the allegation was reported to the network. The show was in production on its second season at the time, Parade noted.

The network later reopened its investigation and conducted additional interviews with Del Rio and others connected to the situation. According to TMZ, that review has now been completed. Del Rio’s attorney, Shawn Holley, is seeking access to the findings. His representatives reportedly believe the results could clarify the circumstances surrounding his dismissal.

CBS Studios has not publicly commented on the investigation, and it remains unclear whether the findings will be made public. Del Rio has not issued a public statement on the matter.

No criminal charges have been reported in connection with the allegation, Parade noted. Filming on “Matlock” reportedly resumed after scheduled breaks in late 2025.
