The Toronto Maple Leafs traded the forward to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2027 conditional first-round pick and a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick, the team announced Thursday.
Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the first-round pick is top-10 protected, otherwise it becomes a 2028 first-round pick.
Additionally, Toronto will acquire the lowest of Colorado’s three fifth-round picks in 2026.
The Maple Leafs acquired Roy from the Vegas Golden Knights in a sign-and-trade involving Mitch Marner last off-season.

The right-shot centreman posted 20 points in 59 games with the Maple Leafs, and in his last four seasons with the Golden Knights, recorded at least 13 goals each year.
Roy brings a Stanley Cup pedigree to the Western Conference-leading Avalanche — who are pushing for their second championship of this decade — having won with Vegas in 2022-23. Over 79 playoff games, he tallied 10 goals and 22 assists.
He carries a $3 million cap hit and is under contract for next season.
