West Ham United haven’t utilised Kyle Walker-Peters as expected since his summer move.

The two-cap England international completed a free transfer switch to the London Stadium after Southampton’s relegation.

It appeared to be a wise move for the Hammers after the versatile full-back was linked with various Premier League sides.

He has hardly hit the ground running at the London Stadium after becoming a bit-part player under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Walker-Peters may have questions over his West Ham future as we now assess what we know about his contract in East London.

What is Kyle Walker-Peters’ contract situation at West Ham?

The former Tottenham man wasn’t the biggest of names available in the summer, but still represented unusually smart business for the Irons.

Southampton were shocking in the Premier League, but the Englishman still managed to maintain his positive levels throughout his St Mary’s days.

His move to East London hasn’t gone as expected, with Nuno opting to utilise El Hadji Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as regular starters.

Ezra Mayers has also picked up minutes in claret and blue, with Walker-Peters also sharing minutes behind the two main options.

That is a bold move considering the defender is being paid a reported weekly wage of £55,000 and a yearly salary in the region of £2.8million.

Those terms were only agreed in the summer and are set to last until 2028 after penning a three-year contract.

Walker-Peters has been sacrificed at West Ham this season, and other names have been utilised ahead of him, but that may only be allowed for so long.

Could Walker-Peters force a West Ham exit?

The 28-year-old departed Southampton with the hope of being a regular in the Premier League, but that hasn’t really worked out.

Wan-Bissaka and Diouf have been useful assets for the claret and blue outfit this campaign, and it would be a bold call to drop them.

That could prompt Walker-Peters to eye a move away from the London Stadium with the hope of playing more than he has this season.

Things may be made more difficult by his having two years remaining on his contract, but it is likely to be possible if the Hammers agree.

It may all depend on what division West Ham are playing in at the start of next season, something which is causing a degree of uncertainty in E20.
