Blue Jays acquire infielder Sosa in trade with White Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired infielder Lenyn Sosa from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder Jordan Rich and a player to be named later or cash considerations, it was announced Monday afternoon.
To make room on the club’s 40-player roster, right-hander Shane Bieber has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Sosa, 26, has appeared in 12 games with the White Sox this season, slashing .212/.212/.303 with three home runs.
He was solid in 140 games last year, hitting 22 home runs and driving in 75 with a .727 OPS.
A native of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, Sosa plays primarily second and third base. He is a veteran of five MLB seasons, all with the White Sox, and is a lifetime .245 hitter with 37 career home runs.
Sosa made his big-league debut in June of 2022 in a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Blue Jays (6-9) are off Monday and will begin a nine-game road trip in Milwaukee Tuesday evening against the Brewers.
