Anthony Gordon could solve an £86million problem for Liverpool in their pursuit for Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.
The Reds are actively after the 19-year-old as a replacement for Mohamed Salah following his impressive season in Germany. The winger has 22 goal contributions so far for the Bundesliga side this campaign and was also called up to the Ivory Coast national team in 2025.
The forward is expected to be named in the county’s squad for the upcoming World Cup, meaning Liverpool will be eager to get a deal done swiftly. A host of clubs are interested in Diomande, with a price tag of around £86m touted by Leipzig.

Bayern Munich are one team interested in the teenager’s services, but their interest in a proven Premier League star could help the Reds’ case greatly. The Athletic reports that the German champions are keen on signing a winger this summer and Newcastle’s Gordon is “high among their options.”
The Bundesliga giants are also pursuing Diomande but the high transfer fee could “prove prohibitive.” This means that they could look at other options, with Gordon touted as an alternative to the RB Leipzig star.

The England international is reportedly admired by Bayern chiefs and they are planning to “lure Gordon to join Harry Kane” in Germany. Chronicle Live reports that the England international is keen on a move to Bayern and has been slapped with a £75m price tag.
With the German giants potentially changing their attention to the Newcastle star, Liverpool could be left with an open goal to secure Diomande’s signature. The ECHO understands that the club have already been in contact with the teenager’s Roc Nation agency over a move to Anfield.
Former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Diomande is the perfect addition to Arne Slot’s side and could make an immediate impact. He said: “He’s outstanding. He’s certainly the best player in the Bundesliga this season.

“Not many people may know about him now, but I’m sure they will after the World Cup because he is an outstanding player. He plays off the left or the right, he’s two-footed, with pace and trickery.
“He’s a wonderful player, not only to watch but also very efficient and effective. I’m sure the big clubs will come calling for him, and if he hasn’t got a clause in his contract, he won’t be cheap. I know football is different in England and some players have had problems (adapting) this season, but with the pace he has, he’s very hard to catch. I wouldn’t think it’s too early for him.
“I think you need to get the fans behind you and Diomande could do that. (Liverpool) need a signing like Diomande to really make the punters look forward to the new season again.”
