We have major news for Law & Order: SVU fans.

The hit NBC drama airs every Thursday night, and after 27 seasons, it’s easy to see why people keep tuning in. Mariska Hargitay leads the SVU team as Olivia Benson, and each week features a new case. Couple that with a dynamic group of actors, including Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, Corey Cott, and more, and it’s hard not to get hooked.

However, fans will be disappointed to learn that the Law & Order: SVU season 27 finale will air on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, according to Deadline.

Fortunately, the beloved series will be back for another season—and Ice-T alluded to it back in March on X. “I’m on the last three episodes of the season [27], which means going into season 28, Fin will still be alive and breathing.”

Although this is the end of Law & Order: SVU season 27, it’s likely to go out with a bang. As the official logline for the May 14 episode, titled “Monster,” teased on NBC Insider, the team will face major consequences after a mistake made during a rescue of a kidnapped child causes issues during court. Elsewhere, Detective Jake Griffin finds himself in danger as he tries to discover the truth about his previous mentor before joining the SVU.

Well, there will certainly be a lot to talk about when Law & Order: SVU returns for season 28 this fall!
