(WRGB) — Heavy rain caused flooding that closed down several roads in and around Albany Wednesday morning.
According to a spokesperson for the Albany Department of Water & Water Supply, the following areas were flooded as of 8:30 a.m.:
- Central Avenue, closed at Albany city limits at I-90 underpass; one car fully submerged.
- Manning Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue. Two cars previously submerged but since cleared up and being towed.
- Hackett Boulevard; one car attempted to cross and was pushed out.
- Erie Boulevard near Noble Gas Solutions.
- Intersection of Erie Street & Erie Boulevard.
That spokesperson suggested that anyone who can work from home should do so.

The Village of Coxsackie said in an Emergency Alert message Wednesday morning that the village was under a state of emergency due to flooding and washed-out roads. The alert advised there should be no unnecessary travel on village roads except in the event of an emergency. According to the village website, the viaduct on Mansion Street was flooded as of 6:00 a.m.
Castleton on Hudson announced a boil water advisory for residents, due to regional flooding.
The Village of Hunter was also asking people to stay off the roads. Town Supervisor Sean Mahoney said in a Facebook post that multiple roads were under water Wednesday morning.
In the City of Rensselaer, flooding prompted the closure of city hall.

In Guilderland, Route 20 at Stuyvesant Plaza was flooded early Wednesday. CBS6 found one car already stuck in the water before 5:30 a.m. A police officer nearby said the driver made it out to safety. Another car drove past police and got stuck in the flood water. A man got out of the passenger side and was seen carrying a child to safety before returning to escort the driver through the flood water.
Officials with Greene and Columbia County have declared state of emergencies for due to the flooding.
