Amanda Holden said her hand was left ‘swollen and infected’ after the attack
The Inner Circle presenter Amanda Holden has been left nursing a “swollen and infected” hand after an incident at her home. Returning to the airwaves on Heart Radio this week, the 54-year-old revealed how intervening in a scrap between her 15-year-old moggy Muffy and her new rescue cat from Corfu had gone horribly wrong.
Following the opening credits on her and Jamie Theakston’s Breakfast show, Amanda’s co-presenter told listeners: “We’ve had a little bit of an emergency overnight,” before asking her to detail what had occurred.
She proceeded to explain: “Oh my gosh, well, I’ve been attacked by my own cat, not my rescue [cat], who is very sweet and is trying to be subservient with our Princess who is 15, [but] she is absolutely not having it.
“And yesterday they came across each other, we’ve been keeping them very separate. And I put my hand in, because they started fighting, and I had to try and separate them. I’ve never seen anything like it and my own cat got hold of my wrist with her teeth, and I literally lifted my arm in the air and she was still on it.”

The Britain’s Got Talent judge went on to say her wrist had since “doubled in size” and she had become “red hot”.
Additionally, Amanda was battling a “massive headache” and finding it difficult to “string a sentence together” at the time, though remained uncertain whether all the symptoms were connected to the bite.
“I can’t move it,” she continued. “I’ve got no eye makeup on, I normally turn up looking like Claudia Winkleman every morning, and I need a tetanus jab for sure. I can’t move my hand.”
Jamie went on to tell listeners that a doctor was coming into the studio to check on Amanda, to which she added: “Honestly, this is an outrage.”
Later on in the show, the presenter provided an update after seeing a medic. She said: “I’ve seen a doctor and he’s prescribed two sets of antibiotics to cover the possible bacterial range, but apparently cats are full of horrible bacteria, because I can’t move my wrist.
“He said in my life I’ve probably had five tetanus [jabs], he’s hoping, so therefore you’re covered for life.”

While Jamie showed some sympathy for his co-star, her husband Chris Hughes wasn’t as supportive.
Reading out a light-hearted text from her spouse, she shared: “I’ve just had a text from my husband saying I’ve really milked my cat bite this morning. He didn’t even realise that he’s done a little bit of a pun there. I haven’t milked it, it’s serious!”.
Amanda returns to screens tonight for a star-studded version of her brand new quiz show, The Inner Circle. The show features contestants and their celebrity partners attempting to outsmart each other in a bid to win a cash prize.
